If you’ve ever seen a horse that’s been well trained by a master horseman, he’s something to watch, and he’s something to ride. He’ll live well because he’s useful and he’s being taken care of. I want to be one of the Master’s horses. I want Him to use me.
I have two horses; each one is trained and gifted to excel in different events. My horse Dandy is really good at roping. Some roping horses are trained to be a heel horse; some are trained to be a head horse. I trained Dandy to be a great head horse. Even when I would get my heel horse out, Dandy would stand there looking at me like, “Take me boss, take me!” because he wanted to be in my service. He found complete joy in being with me. When I saw him do that the first time I thought, “I want to be like that. If you’ve got something you’re going to do, Lord, use me!”
When God appeared to Moses in the burning bush, what did Moses say? He said, “Here I am” (Exodus 3:4). In Isaiah when God said, “Who shall I send?” Isaiah went, “Ooo, ooo, ooo, send me!” (Isaiah 6:8) That’s because our ultimate fulfillment is in being used by the One who purchased us and trained us, but we get so distracted by other things.
