God wants you to see Him; He wants you to hear Him. What He began in you, He’s going to bring to completion, one way or another. God gave His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to die for you (John 3:16). He took your sins upon Himself and He hung on a cross. He paid for your sins so that you could be righteous and have fellowship with Him. He purchased you, and now He wants you to follow Him. He’s placed you in His herd.
When I was young I got enough money together to buy my first horse. I really sacrificed, but my horse didn’t understand that. I didn’t sacrifice nearly as much as God sacrificed for me, but at the time I thought I’d sacrificed a lot to get that horse. I wanted him to listen to me and follow me, just like God wants me to listen to Him and follow Him. If my horse didn’t listen to me, he could run off and get caught up in barbed wire, or fall off a cliff. All kinds of things could happen to him without me.
